Enabling JavaScript and Cookies in Web Browsers

If you have been referred here from the contact form, just follow the instructions below to enable JavaScript and cookies in your browser program. The contact form will not work at all unless this is done and will not respond to any kind of user interaction

A note of explanation, JavaScript is a client side scripting language which allows various manipulations to the browser display, many of the elegant display transformations and effects are due to JavaScript libraries. In this case it has been employed to validate (check) some of the input of the form it is submitted to the server for processing. It also assists the user in completing the form

Additionally, it is a means of limiting, spam email by automated robots, since, normally they cannot parse JavaScript

Web Browser Programs

The procedure to be followed is quite simple but it does depend on the browser that is being used. In all instances, after JavaScript has been enabled, the web page must be reloaded before JavaScript becomes operational

Firefox Web Browser version 3+

  1. Open up the browser program and on the top menu list choose 'tools'(i.e. click the left mouse button)
  2. Next to the bottom choose 'options' click, that should show another small window headed options
  3. At the top icon menu, click on the 'content' icon
  4. Tick the box third item from the top labelled 'Enable JavaScript'
  5. At the top icon menu, move across to 'Privacy' and click
  6. Tick the fifth item down the list 'Accept cookies from sites'
  7. Close the window by clicking the 'OK' button at the bottom

Internet Explorer Web Browser v8

  1. Usually on the right hand side, look for the 'Tools' menu and click
  2. Choose the bottom item 'Internet Options' and a new smaller window should open
  3. From this window choose 'security' and look for the 'protected mode' option close to the bottom of the form.
  4. Beneath that there is yet another button marked 'Custom level', click on that.
  5. Yet another window opens showing various options, scroll down to the Scripting option
  6. Click on the option 'Active Scripting - enable'
  7. Close the window by clicking the 'OK' button at the bottom of the form
  8. Now go to the 'Privacy' tab of the 'Internet Options' form and click on that
  9. Move the slider control for 'Select a setting for the Internet zone' to 'Medium'
  10. Now all is done so, close the original 'Internet Options' form by clicking 'OK'

Opera Web Browser v10+

  1. On the top menu search for 'Tools' and click
  2. Choose the last item 'Preferences' and click
  3. When the preferences window opens click on the 'Advanced' tab
  4. On the left hand menu click on content
  5. Third item on the main panel is 'enable Javascript', click this and close the window
  6. Move down the left hand menu until you reach 'Cookies' and click on that
  7. Choose the top item 'Accept cookies'
  8. Now all is done so, close the window by clicking the 'OK' button at the bottom

Safari web Browser v4+

  1. At the far right search for the gear icon with a down facing arrow, click that item
  2. Two thirds of the way down click on 'preferences'
  3. In the new window that opens click on 'Security' and than
  4. On the fourth item down click on 'Enable Javascript'
  5. Move down the list and from 'Accept cookies' choose the last item 'Only from site I visit'
  6. All is done so simple close the form
